Worth mentioning that two of the AI players basically blew themselves up this week:
* Musk said he would basically start brand new on XAI after most of his cofounders left and his product is basically crap.
* Meta also shared that it’s AI is not working properly, after Zuckerberg spent hundreds of billions hiring out from other companies and internal staff didn’t like it. The company now plans to layoff 20% of its employees.Show More

One Sentence Summary
Gary Marcus argues that the recent struggles of xAI and Meta demonstrate that massive budgets and scaling are insufficient for achieving AGI.
Summary
Referencing reports of internal turmoil and product failures at Elon Musk's xAI and Mark Zuckerberg's Meta, Gary Marcus reinforces his long-standing skepticism of the 'Scaling Hypothesis.' He points out that even with nearly unlimited financial resources, these tech giants have failed to deliver on the promise of AGI, suggesting that the current industry focus on scale over fundamental innovation is flawed.
