Exploring Color and Display Compatibility in Icon Design

parakeet.co/blog/app-icons…Show More

One Sentence Summary
This tweet analyzes the visual effect of using high-saturation blue backgrounds in website icons and explores how different displays and operating systems perceive color.
Summary
The tweet points out that extensive use of near‑pure spectral blue with high saturation can strain the eyes during long reading sessions and may cause subpixel overdrive and edge purple fringing on certain PC OLED displays. It also notes that these sites employ the Display P3 color space, which is Mac‑friendly only, resulting in differing visual experiences across operating systems, and provides a blog link for deeper insights into app icon design.
