股票市场是怎样诞生的呢？
在农业文明的后期，距今约500年前，当时西方文明发现了美洲大陆，这给当时的西方文明提供了庞大的土地和资源。
如果可以通过远洋航行，成功进行跨洋贸易，就可以获得暴利。但是远洋航行的成本也非常高，还有失败的风险，或者遭遇海盗的掠夺等。
一般个人很难有实力参与到其中，甚至普通的富豪和贵族都没这个实力。所以，最早的远洋航行都是欧洲皇室支持的，后来皇室的钱也不太够用了。
于是，一个伟大的发明出现了：建立股权制公司，用股权的方式，把原本规模庞大的公司，拆分成一份份的小股份，每一份小股份，都可以单独卖给投资者。
距今400多年前，最早的股票就这样诞生了。
后来，买卖股票的人多了，大家也希望股票有个交易的地方，股市也就诞生了。不过，比较规范的股票交易所，是在19世纪才完善起来的。
从最早股票的诞生，我们可以看出，股票投资的一些基本特征：
• 股票诞生的最重要作用，是为公司提供资金，其次才是投资者投资的工具。
• 股票投资风险巨大。一旦公司远洋航行失败，投资者可能会血本无归。股票从一开始就是一项高风险投资，不是每一家公司都能发展起来。
• 股票投资降低了个人的投资门槛，使得个人投资者也可以参与到公司的投资中，分享一门生意的未来现金流。
股票诞生的同时，也伴随着巨大的风险。就在股票诞生后不久，就出现了著名的南海泡沫，投资者损失惨重。
不过随着股票投资的普及，一些聪明的投资者开始发现，同样是公司的股份，有的公司是可以发展得更好的。如果买了它的股份，公司拿到钱，能够发展得更好，给投资者的分红也更多。从而吸引更多的人去投资这个公司的股票。
这就形成了一个正向循环。一方面，公司的发展，反过来可以刺激经济，把资源引导向最需要、最有潜力的地方；另一方面，这也吸引越来越多的人进入股市，把资金投向需要的、有潜力的公司，公司赚到钱后，再回馈给投资者。
所以，股市的存在，有自己实际的社会价值。如果仅仅是泡沫，是不足以让股票诞生并存在数百年的。
股市可以给公司输送资金，大部分公司会破产消失，小部分公司会成功的活下来，并成长为参天大树，推动整个社会和国家继续增长。
这就是股市存在的意义啦。
