今年三伏天将于7月15日正式开启，时长40天，比去年多10天，属于长三伏。三伏天为何有长有短？是长三伏的年份多，还是短三伏的年份多？听科普专家一一道来。
中国天文学会会员、天津市天文学会理事杨婧介绍，“夏至三庚便数伏”，每年自夏至日起第三个庚日为初伏、第四个庚日为中伏，立秋日起第一个庚日为末伏，合起来叫“三伏”。庚，就是“干支纪日法”中天干里的庚。含“庚”字的天干日，每10天会出现一次，即为“庚日”。
初伏和末伏的时间固定都是10天，而中伏的时间有时是10天，有时是20天。若夏至日到立秋日之前有四个庚日，中伏就是10天；若有五个庚日，中伏则为20天。这种变化使得三伏天的总时长可能是30天，民间称“短三伏”；也可能是40天，民间称“长三伏”。
以2026年为例：夏至为6月21日，夏至日起的第一个庚日为庚午日（6月25日），第二个庚日是庚辰日（7月5日），第三个庚日是庚寅日（7月15日），这就是入伏的第一天。初伏持续10天，时间为7月15日至7月24日。立秋为8月7日，立秋日起的第一个庚日是庚申日（8月14日），末伏即为8月14日至8月23日，持续10天。7月25日至8月13日为中伏，含庚子日（7月25日）和庚戌日（8月4日），共20天。
如果将入伏和出伏的时间对应到节气时段的话，通常是在小暑节气期间入伏，立秋、处暑节气出伏。
究竟是长三伏的年份多，还是短三伏的年份多？答案是40天的长三伏更为常见。2001年至2050年统计显示，长三伏的年份有34年，短三伏的年份有16年。杨婧解释，夏至到立秋，间隔47天左右，这个区间，很容易容纳5个庚日。
不论是长三伏还是短三伏，都是一年中气温最高、湿度最大的时段。“面对即将到来的三伏天，公众要重点做好防暑降温、调理饮食及起居，以应对高温高湿天气的挑战。”杨婧提醒说。 中国气象局提醒，公众应及时关注高温健康风险预警信息变化，保持室内凉爽，避开高温时段外出，减 少户外活动，保证充足饮水。老人、孕妇、儿童、慢性病 患者加强 关注自身健康状况，如不适及时就医。户外作业者注意防暑降温。
