The Real Cost of Open Source Community Maintenance: Challenges with 400+ Unmerged PRs
The Real Cost of Open Source Community Maintenance: Challenges with 400+ Unmerged PRs

Show More

One Sentence Summary
An open source project maintainer shares the high costs of maintaining community-submitted code, noting that even with a dedicated workflow built on Multica, over 400 PRs remain unmerged.
Summary
This tweet is a response to @dingyi's criticism of 'fake open source'. The author illustrates from personal experience that maintaining community-submitted code is extremely costly and requires a dedicated workflow (built on Multica) to ensure merge quality. Despite these efforts, 400+ PRs remain unmerged, with many being temporarily shelved after review because they don't align with the product roadmap. The tweet includes two workflow-related screenshots.
