Key Quotes
> The higher the temperature, the more prone people are to impulsivity and irritability; mainly due to these reasons:
> Emotional hormone imbalance: In hot weather, sweating a lot reduces serotonin, which makes us feel good, while stress hormones rise, patience deteriorates, and minor issues easily set us off.
> Brain condition worsens: To dissipate heat, the body dilates skin blood vessels, reducing blood and oxygen supply to the brain, weakening self-control and judgment.
> Sleep quality declines: Hot, stuffy summer nights make it hard to fall asleep and cause shallow sleep; lack of sleep directly leads to emotional instability and irritability.
> Emotions have no outlet: In hot weather, people avoid outdoor exercise, so stress and negative emotions cannot be released, causing frustration to build up.
> Check duration: If irritability occurs only on hot days and quickly eases after cooling down and resting, it's normal emotional fluctuation; however, if low mood, irritability, and difficulty feeling happy persist for more than two weeks regardless of temperature, vigilance is warranted.
> Reduce workload and allow yourself to slow down: In hot weather, don't force yourself to work under tension; try to sleep early and avoid late-night phone scrolling; when feeling unwell, take a brief break to rest and schedule important tasks for when you're in better condition.
> Accept emotions, avoid self-blame: When irritable, don't blame yourself; mood swings caused by weather are normal, so accept them calmly, and your mood will actually recover faster.
