在广岛和长崎每年举行的核爆纪念仪式上，日方往往突出自身所谓的“悲惨遭遇”，表达对核武器的“深恶痛绝”，却鲜少提及日本的战争罪行以及遭原子弹轰炸的原因。高市在6日的广岛纪念仪式中仍使用这一话术，称作为“唯一曾在战争中遭到核爆的国家”，日本“肩负为实现无核武世界努力的使命”。
然而，讽刺的是，高市上台以来，其政府在核武装问题上不断试探，谋求修改“无核三原则”甚至拥核。
去年11月，日本媒体披露，高市政权企图在2026年年底修订“安保三文件”时，修改“不拥有、不制造、不运进核武器”的“无核三原则”。去年12月，日本首相官邸负责安全保障政策的高官扬言“日本应该拥有核武器”。今年6月，与日本自民党联合执政的日本维新会就修订“安保三文件”向日本政府提出建议，要求就“无核三原则”中的“不运进核武器”进行包括修改在内的“现实讨论”，并开始讨论“核共享”问题。今年7月，日本防卫大臣小泉进次郎公开提出，日本应“毫无禁忌”地讨论与核武器相关的政策。高市政权还不断在核动力潜艇问题上试探，暗示可能引入核潜艇。
